Latest updates (changelog)

Have you any food missing? Do you have a feature suggestion? Have you noticed a bug? Contact me, I’m all ears. ✨

🚧 Coming soon

Now that version 2 and the new search engine are available, the main priority is the food database. I constantly monitor what you are searching for and add missing foods.

I only note here the significant improvements made to Fodmapedia, but be aware that rarely a week goes by without the database being enriched.

Emmanuel, Fodmapedia founder

☝️ June 18, 2024: the new Avoid food confusions field enhances some food entries

This ensures that the entry matches the food you’re looking for.

It explains subtle details you might not have considered, directs you to the right pages, or reassures you that you’re in the right place.

The ongoing enrichment of the database continues, always serving our specific FODMAP concerns.

⭐ May 17: 233 foods added since the beginning of the year

As I mentioned in December, the new tool for adding and updating foods in the database is proving effective: a large batch of 160 foods was added in February, and since then, new foods have been added every week.

This progress is thanks to you and your requests, which enhance the quality and distinction of Fodmapedia (especially compared to the Monash app). Each addition is still done manually, after thorough investigation.

🥁 December 20: new internal tool for food management

The food database is the core of Fodmapedia.

Until now, adding new foods was tedious. Even though research and enrichment were done daily, major updates could take weeks, as new foods were added in “batches.”

Now, I have a brand-new tool that significantly simplifies this work while improving its quality. It allows for the addition of new foods continuously, on a daily basis.

Keep requesting the missing foods you want to see in Fodmapedia!

There’s clearly a before and after, and Fodmapedia will continue to grow stronger.

🤚 November 30, 2023: search now fully operational

We recently had a quick hiccup with a software update that temporarily affected our central search feature, causing a bit of inconvenience for about 24 hours. Not to worry, though – we tackled it and got everything back on track by 9:30 PM last night. We’ve also put some internal measures in place to make sure these kinds of things don’t happen again.

On the bright side, this fix is part of introducing a cool new internal tool to turbocharge our food database updates. So, it was kind of a hiccup for a good cause! Still, I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused by this bug. Thanks a bunch for your understanding, and we’re committed to keeping your experience with Fodmapedia top-notch!

👁 October 2023: nothing to show

Fodmapedia is updated almost daily, whether it’s the database or minor feature improvements.

It’s just that these updates may not always warrant a dedicated post here. Rest assured, the team is still working hard.

The next significant improvement is an internal tool designed to ease the addition of new foods to the database, which will accelerate the pace of database updates.

🔧 June 29, 2023: bug fix on the Lists feature

The “Back” button, which had been missing for some time, is now available again.

This bug only affected the search within the “FODMAP lists” feature and only on mobile devices. It’s now more convenient again!

🎁 May 15: 131 new foods added

Adding these raw foods and specialties required a lot of work. As always, a portion of the content is available for free, while the rest is reserved for Premium members. Here is the complete list:

⚡ May 9: instantaneous loading of food pages

Building upon the improvements made this winter (announcements in November and January, see below), the food search feature has been further enhanced. The loading of food pages is now nearly instantaneous when you click on one of the search results, and you can equally quickly return to the search results.

This improvement marks a significant milestone in the planned technical developments surrounding the search, which is the cornerstone of Fodmapedia.

I will now be able to focus on new features and enhancements, although many of them may not be directly visible to you. Nonetheless, this will enable me to expand Fodmapedia, continue professionalizing it, and make it more robust and enjoyable to use.

⭐ January 19 (2023): food page improved

The food page has been completely revised:

This information had arrived on the search results from the home page, but was missing on the food sheet. It is now done!

Next step: it is planned to make the search even faster by displaying the results directly from the “food” page while remaining on the home page, avoiding intermediate loading times.

The redesign of this food page available today has laid the groundwork. To be continued!

⭐ November 20: search improved

4 new features:

This information is of course to be taken with a grain of salt, but if it is displayed, it means that the probability is strong and could be useful in some use cases.

It doesn’t seem like it, but displaying this new information is the result of a work of enrichment of the database carried out for more than a year and is allowed by the experience of Fodmapedia on food.

Because well, before, they did not return anything, due to a technical constraint 😔.

tea“, “palm” or “oil” now show you results!

I hope these improvements will be useful to you. 🙏

⭐ September 12: customer portal & My account update

You can now easily:

Hope that helps!

❤️ July 18, 2022: a brand new search engine

I’ve been dreaming about it for almost a year and after a lot of work, it’s finally available.

Your queries will give much more relevant and faster results.

There is a much better handling of typos, accents and other special characters, because yesterday if you didn’t type the exact word, it could return no results even though the food was present in the database.

And the new technical base will allow for future improvements, to analyze your queries more easily, improve the order of results over time and intelligently bring up those on which you click.

And since we’re talking about search, the 500,000 queries mark has been passed!

March-June

It’s been so long I didn’t update this page, but Fodmapedia never stopped to be improved.

We’re now reaching the end of June and so many updates were published since March, regularly:

A brand new system to install the mobile application is available and it’s much easier, find it here.

New: you can also install Fodmapedia as an application on your computer. Try it, just click on the “Install” button.
Improvements will come from this new system. If you had installed the old app, I advise you to remove it and install the new one through the link above.

Fodmapedia is easier to install on mobile and is now installable on your computer, without taking up storage space 👌

⭐ March 8, 2022: database and feature update

🎁 February 4, 2022: 102 new foods added

Almost the biggest batch of new foods added in the database, it’s been a while, but it took some time to do it well.

In the meantime, lots of small improvements here and there on the website and on the database, but I hope you will find these 102 useful:

⭐ November 15, 2021: so many small design updates

Since launching version 2, not a week passed without a minor update improving the interface, the colors, alignments or other small details that make using Fodmapedia easier.

But today I added something that some of you asked from me (rightly!), it’s the ability to erase what you type in one click:

It’s now available, I hope you’ll like it.

🐞 October 8, 2021: fixed a bug preventing from loading the substitutes simply

You had to click on the title of a low-FODMAP substitute to load it, now the full area enables this, that’s easier.

🤩 September 17, 2021: version 2 is out there!

Surprise, the brand new Fodmapedia is available to all.

On top of a new app/website, Fodmapedia also has a new logo 😊.

Weeks of hard work were needed for this big upgrade, but it was worth it (I hope!)

Fodmapedia is now fully adapted to both mobile and desktop use, and contains lots of other user experience improvements. This update will serve as the foundation of future upgrades and more new features.

Thanks for all the feedbacks on version 1, I listened and responded.

Enjoy version 2!

🎁 August 27, 2021: 97 new foods added!

59 various foods and 38 vitamins, mineral and trace elements are available:

⭐ August 6, 2021

🐣 July 26, 2021: Lists are available!

This is a MAJOR new feature that is now available to all Premium members:

You can choose among 3 types of lists: one for each step of the low-FODMAPs diet.

I remember during step 1 I was looking for specific foods and discovered they were either high in FODMAPS or the low-FODMAPs serving was too small. With this first list, you can pick a food category (fruit, condiment, tea, pasta, juice…) and it displays all foods that are either FODMAP-free or with a low-FODMAP serving that has a large enough quantity to be able to eat/cook it “normally”.

3 types of lists, one for each step of the diet.

The goal is to focus on what’s allowed, not what’s forbidden, and that changes everything!

Hope you’ll like it, that is really a feature I wish I had when I started eating low-FODMAPs.

I’ll let you discover the other 2 lists 😊.

⭐ July 23, 2021: language switch

You can now easily switch between the English and French versions of Fodmapedia if you feel like it (in the footer).

🎁 June 23, 2021: 120 new foods added

I spent time in the food supplement world because I had lots of requests around the ingredients commonly found in their composition, so here are 74 of them! Plus 46 foods requested by you, my users:

And here are the 74 food supplement ingredients:

Coming up during the summer: minerals, trace elements, vitamins and the habitual variety of foods coming from daily requests of members.

🐣 June 11, 2021: no more back and forths with your search queries

While I have been working hard on longer term projects, lots of minor database update were deployed since last time, but here is a new major feature that I’m sure you’ll enjoy as it’s been requested many times:

🎁 April 29, 2021: 75 new foods added

I just added almost 40 new foods that Premium members asked for, there is a bit of everything.

And I took some time to investigate fruit and vegetable juices, here are 43!

End here are the juices:

🎁 March 23, 2021: 130 new foods added

The biggest update for more than a year!

These are all food requested by Fodmapedia users, and as always, each new entry demanded a thorough investigation:

We serve people from all around the world, with a focus on North America and Europe let’s be honest, an upcoming update will focus on US products / brands.

⭐ February 18, 2021: imperial/metric system improvements

Many pages have been clarified regarding the grams, cups, ml, tbsp, tsp… I now have more precise info for everyone! 🌎🌍🌏

🎁 February 5, 2021: 100 new foods added

Thanks to your requests and my analysis of your search queries, here are 100 new foods available:

Like always, contact me here to suggest missing foods. If you’re a Premium member, I’ll personally get back to you with the results of my investigation within two business days.

As the Fodmapedia team is currently expanding, the rhythm of updates will increase, stay tuned!

Fodmapedia exists since 2019 but in 2021 I started providing an update journal here. I hope you will appreciate the transparency and that is a way to push me to update more often, so more value for you 😉
